Singular in HAWKWIND's discography, the music is quite innovative and proves that the band was par on par with its time, exploring new directions while keeping their own touch. The music is very well composed, played, and produced and I think this album has a much worse reputation than what it deserves. Hawkwind 25 Years On-U. Calvert has a decent vocal style here similar to Brock; "All you need to do is take one step into the sky". AllMusic relies heavily on JavaScript. Love how this sounds. And the repeated phrase "cabinet key" does not do it any favours either.

It's spacey again before 4 minutes to the end. The guitar is excellent.

This isn't even close to being grouped with their earlier classic albums but we do get some good songs here. When Hawkwindfresh from the latest round of breakups and defections, reignited themselves as the Hawklordsfew among even the grassroots faithful knew precisely what to expect.

Not unexpected any longer since "Hawkwind" copes with this style of music as of "Astounding Sounds". Retrieved 11 Hawklors Love yeas this sounds. This is not a compilation album. A positive surprise given the negative criticism this album often receives.

But if you're looking for unusual and original rock, pick this disc! During the Devon recording session King returned home to London and was replaced by Martin Griffin also from Arkbut Hawklordds subsequently returned giving the band two drummers. Symphonic fans should look to earlier albums but the post-punks among us should enjoy this.

HAWKLORDS: 25 YEARS ON

I was a waiting for a new Hawkwind album and this one came along. Very much a Hawkwind album, despite the subtle adaptation of the band name for if I recall correctly, the usual "contractual reasons".

The music is perhaps as far removed from space rock as the band would ever get, these tracks being tightly arranged pieces more in tune with New Wave of the time rather than the band's history.

Robert Calvert's voice is a bit irritating and the chord progression resembles "Silver Machine"'s. The relentless riffing is the best pn about it, but it's ruined by the over indulgent vocals. I can't listen enough of these great songs.
